Privacy and cookies policy
This policy explains what personal data Mega Uploads (megauploads.co.uk) collects, why, and the choices you have. It’s written to meet the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Who we are
Mega Uploads is run by Thomas Abbott, who is the data controller for this website. You can contact us about privacy at info@megauploads.co.uk.
What we collect
When you browse the site
Like most websites, our web host records basic technical information in server logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. We use this to keep the site secure and working. Logs are kept for a limited period and aren’t used to identify you.
When you contact us
If you email us, we’ll use your email address and message only to reply. We don’t add you to any mailing list.
When you click a provider link
Some outbound links are affiliate links. When you click one, the provider or its affiliate network may set its own cookie to record that you came from our site. We don’t receive your personal details from providers. We may see anonymous totals, such as the number of sign-ups.
Cookies and advertising
We use Google AdSense to show adverts. With your consent, Google and its partners use cookies to show adverts based on your interests and to measure how adverts perform. If you don’t consent, Google may still show non-personalised adverts, which use cookies only for purposes such as frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregated reporting.
When you first visit, a consent message lets you accept or reject advertising cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the “Privacy and cookie settings” link in the site footer.
You can find out more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and manage personalised adverts at adssettings.google.com.
We don’t use any other analytics or tracking cookies. If that changes, we’ll update this policy first.
Our lawful bases
- Consent for advertising and other non-essential cookies.
- Legitimate interests for server logs and security, and for replying to messages you send us.
Sharing your data
We don’t sell your personal data. Data is processed by our web host and, where you’ve consented, by Google for advertising. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, under safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use these rights, contact us at the email above. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page if anything changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
